I am heartbroken for our friend. Not two weeks ago she was offering to watch our children so we could have some time together and now..........well I can't imagine what she is going through. We have been attending the same life group for over a year and love each and every one of them. They have loved on us, prayed for us, supported us. It's been what we have been looking for ever since we got married, a place to belong where people care about you and miss you if something should come up and you can't get together. You see, C lost her 17 year old son on Tuesday night. He was hit by a car while riding his bike. There was pretty much no hope from the beginning according to the doctors. For the sake of C's privacy I won't say too much. If you are reading this, please pray for peace in this family. Pray for forgiveness. Pray for healing. There are so many facets to this story. Tell your family today how much you love and cherish them. Hug them a little tighter tonight and thank God for all you have been given.

Furniture Shopping

I need help. Within the month of November we are going to be converting Nor from a crib to a big girl bed. This is something I have been dreading for quite some time. I don't think she will be quite as 'easy' as Tug. Anyway, we have begun the process of shopping for a new bed and dresser. We started at Ashley Furniture, since that is where we purchased our last piece of furniture, a new kitchen table. I have to say, I am slightly disappointed. I don't know why I have had it in my head to not buy my daughter white furniture, but for some reason I do. And everything out there for girls seems to be in white or cream. All the 'wood' colored furniture seems too boyish. Any ideas? Or do I need to just suck it up and go with the light colored bed set?

Our First Halloween Party

Thanks to our friends the Paslay's for inviting us to C's first annual Halloween party. C is pictured above. Isn't she too cute??? I think this might actually be one of the first pictures of me on my own blog. Anyway, it was so fun!!! S had so many things planned for the kids. They hunted for bones in the front yard, played pin the nose on the pumpkin, had a pinata, decorated cup cakes.......it was never ending fun!!! It was nice to have a trial run of costumes before the real deal this Friday too!!! Both costumes are going to work out great. We had a little bit of computer trouble over the weekend. I'll post more pictures later. We did pumpkin carving a week or so ago, admidst the strep throat we had going around. Thankfully everyone seems to be doing much better. We also went to the balloon festival is Statesvegas and I have some very cool pictures from that.

Whata Day

Since I haven't slept but about 15 hours this week I figured there was no hurry in going to bed so that I could toss and turn. So I figured I would blog for a few minutes. What a DAY!!! Me and several other adults took a group of seniors to the Renaissance Festival in Huntersville. Very fun, just sad that I forgot the camera. I highly recommend going and will have to take the family back someday. The only downside to the day was the temperature. That kind of thing I like doing when it's nice, cool, fall weather. But the students were so good. I think we had one of the best behaved schools at the whole festival.

Please pray for little Nor. I picked her up yesterday from school with a 101.8 temperature and she had been sick with the one thing she had eaten. She was sick in the car and then once again at home. T was supposed to go on the field trip today too and drive the bus but we felt it was better if he stayed home. Nor seemed better until about 3 and then she was sick again. We got her an appointment (love this office in Lake Norman). Everytime we have called for a sick visit they have gotten us in within a couple of hours. I love that!!! Nor had a temperature of 104.8. Very scary!!! There wasn't much the doctor could do. He perscribed suppositories but after talking with my mom about that we decided against doing that. The whole suppositories story is another post for another day. Anyway we got her home, into a cool bath and thanks to my mom for rescuing us!!!! I ran out the door to get up to the school to make some lesson plans for tomorrow. (That might be the not so good thing about being a teacher.) You always have to have a back up plan. It's not like calling into the office I imagine. By 8:30 her temperature was down to 101. Please pray that God continues to heal her little body. She is restless right now, so I am on my way up the stairs to sleep in the big bed with her. Tomorrow I will feel like I have been on WWF Raw, but it'll be worth it if she is all better.

Happy Birthday Nana

Happy Birthday Nana!!!! My parents came over on Sunday for dinner and we celebrated Nana's birthday!!! Mom's birthday is really on Thursday but the week just gets so crazy. Nana wanted a George Foreman grill. And of course she had a one of a kind cake creation from yours truly!!! Actually it wasn't great looking because I was experimenting. But it tasted very good if I do say so myself!!!

A Boring Post

I don't really have much to blog about right now. We have been very busy with school, Todd's class, and all the other things that go along with being parents. The weeks just seem to be flying by. We can't believe it's already the second week in October. I never before realized how many numbers/passwords a person needed to remember, so just for fun here's my list:
1. Log in to timekeeper and password every morning.
2. I have a work email log in and password.
3. I have an NC Wise log in and password (this is where I take attendance and grades).
4. A personal email account log in and password.
5. This blog name and password which is the same as #4 thank goodness.
6. A log in name and password for yearbookavenue.com where we are creating our yearbook.
7. A password to check my voicemail on my cell phone.
8. A debit card code.
9. I know my checking and savings accounts numbers.
10. My driver's license number (I know, totally random)
11. A school wires log in name and password (I have to keep up with a school webpage).
12. A castle island log in name and password (This is for extra remediation for struggling students).
13. My telephone number--most people have a hard time remembering this one because they can punch a number on their cell phone and it calls home.
14. The password for the door to Tug and Nor's school.

I think this pretty much rounds out my list. I said I didn't have anything to blog about. Talk about a boring post. Pictures will soon follow of all our fall activities. I keep taking my camera to
Friday night football games but I forget to take pictures. They are so cute at the games especially around the band. Hopefully fall pictures will be soon follow. I have a call in to a local photographer to take pictures at Davidson College so hopefully that will work out. It's such as pretty campus. That's all for the moment. Just for The Heck of It

If I don't laugh, I might cry about this. I think most people know about my first period, but if you don't, here goes. Things that have happened since the beginning of school on August 25th in no particular order:
1. I have a known gang member who associates with the red side of the tracks. He is currently suspended for his second stint of 5 days and I am not sure for what. As of Tuesday he has missed 14 days of school.
2. I had a young lady call me f$#$%% stupid.
3. I had a young man say "They are f#$%#$ with my stuff. That's my s$^&" Suspended for 3 days.
4. One young lady comes back to class tomorrow after being suspended for 10 days. She was fighting on the bus.
5. A young man (who is the epitome of redneck) cussed out gang member from above. Not a good situation. He was suspended for 3 days.
6. Yesterday one young man in the class is suspended for the rest of the year for selling maryj.
7. On a daily basis one of my yearbookers who helps the lunch detention teacher is at my door. There are at least 3 a day in the class who have to serve lunch detention.

I think this pretty much sums up the list for now.......... I really thought teaching at Salisbury had pretty much prepared me for anything. And for the most part it has. However, I didn't see the drug thing coming and normally I am pretty good a pegging a kid. Most of these kids have seen my hubby in these first few weeks of school. I REALLY could not do what he does.
