1st Grade Update

Incredibly proud of Tug's 1st grade performance thus far. He is doing great. He just took the PA (predictive assessment) in reading and scored an 85%. The class average was a 75%. He took the PA in math. He scored 75% and the class average was 53%. We are knocking it out of the park in the spelling category. For the last 3 weeks he has had the challenge spelling list. He thought he missed one on last week's test, but he hit it out of the park...........a 100%!!!! It's great. I hope he can keep it up. His behavior is great at school.............another thing to talk about at home. He is really testing the waters these days. He wants to argue and fuss about EVERYTHING. On one of the first days of school we had an argument about sitting in the front seat. "I'm six and in the first grade. It's time for me to sit in the front seat."

Then we've had arguments about bedtime, silly bandz (which by the way, I hate), wearing jeans. This morning was the jeans, "I hate jeans. These pants are stupid. They are touching my shoes." I mean, really??? Are we have these conversations???? I wonder when we'll get in the argument of a cell phone.....................but so and so has one. BTW: I know hate is a wrong word.....but really those silly bandz are evil. We'll stay the course, be consistent, and everything will work out.

Sleeping Beauty.......I mean Tinkerbell

For the last few weeks we have gone up to check on Nor-Nor and found this. I am not sure if she thinks she's in a tent or what. But I have to move it b/c I am afraid she'll poke her out or something.

Annie

Ready to watch Annie.............

Tug took the above picture. He did a great job.

Nor's Soccer

Getting ready to go to soccer.

Stretchin' it out.

Tug's Soccer

Fall soccer is underway. His team tied with the other 1-1. The game was at 7........we almost ran out of daylight. Loved his reaction when his team scored a point.

Wow

I looked and realized we are at Sept. 14th and I still haven't posted for this month. So what have we been up to?

1. Today was picture day, glad that's over. About 900 kids took pictures today along with fall athletic sports teams. Needless to say, I am T-I-R-E-D. But am off to dance class in a little while. Which by the way, thought I had rhythm and totally don't. It was fun though and I laughed alot. So I am getting exercise and having fun doing it so I guess that's all that matters.
2. T is getting adjusted to a new school. 'Nuff said.
3. Tug seems to have adjusted well to first grade and a new school. So glad we decided to change schools. That was totally a God-thing. He put some people and things in our path that have really solidified that decision.
4. Very much ready for our two children to be in the same place. Nor is good, both are playing soccer, but she is ready to get to do the 'fun' stuff that Tug gets to do, like homework. (And yes, I was the type of student who loved homework so I guess our kids will too.)
5. Tug got the challenge spelling word list this week. So proud of him.
6. Loving the coolness to the air here in the morning. Still too warm for me during the day. Was shocked to actually hear T say he was ready for it to get cooler.................but there's a reason. He's ready for the cool-weather meals: taco soup, veggie soup, salisbury steak. Me too!!!
7. So excited to go and see Annie (the play, adapted from the movie) this weekend. The kids love live theatre (no wonder with their dramatic father), so even Tug will have a blast.
8. Looking forward to another great yearbook cover. Not so much into the one from last year, but suffice it to say we are doing another cut-out cover and that's all I am going to say about that.
9. Not digging some inconsistencies at work. Makes for a not-so-nice work environment.
10. I am finding out that it truly is amazing what a person can get done in a 24 hour period. T and I often think back and wonder if we were ever bored without children. B/c now, there is NEVER a dull moment.
11. Trying to get some things done around the house. My goal before Christmas: get a ceiling fan up in the dining room and get some rooms crown moulded. Let's see if we can make. Got the yard pine-strawed this weekend and the house power-washed today. What a difference that makes.

I guess that is it for now...........off to dance class.
