From the Streets to Broadway

Taking a bow.......she's the one really bowing.
Silly pics. before the recital.

Performing the ballet dance in the second row.

Transformer Party

Blowing out 6 candles..........he needed a little help.
Nor-Nor got a few special treats too!!!
Some after-party fun at the pool. Tug did not want to wear his shark float. He kept telling us he was six and didn't need it. (I had a thought out loud: How many times in the next year will I hear.............'because I'm six.')

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Tug!!! How can this child already be six???? How is this possible?? Time goes so quickly.........I feel sometimes like he was just a baby. It doesn't seem like that long ago we were getting up at 5:00 a.m. to go to the hospital for an induction. Or that 18 hours later we were able to hold our little boy in our arms...........all nine pounds of him. He is soooooo smart. Usually too smart for my own good. He is reading beyond a first grade level for crying out loud. He is such a good boy and we are so blessed to be able to raise him. I pray God's protection and grace upon him everyday.

Yearbook Distribution

Well.................yearbooks came yesterday and they were handed out today. I should feel some sense of relief or something, but I don't. There is one serious issue..........there are 5 seniors in the unsung heroes section, not in the senior pictures section. After getting home and having a moment to think about how such a thing could happen, I figured out that a former student did that. A student I made sure was not on the yearbook staff this spring. I think you see where I am going with this. But how do I prove it? And how do I explain that to five parents??? We shall see what happens. And of course now that we are looking through the book, there are the typos missed that we are now finding. That gets under my skin like no other thing. But I have to keep telling myself that I (we) can't produce a perfect book.

All went well today with distribution and we have a few books left. Having so few books left is such a nice feeling. I am ready for Friday (a much-needed day off) and I am ready for the end of the school year. I am over this school year for sure. And if you are lucky I might in the near future post a picture of the cover and a few pictures of my favorite spreads.

Eulogy

Ellis F. Corah
1925-2010

I thought I'd put this here since I can't be in PA.

No one thought it would end this way. At least I figured Gram would outlive Gramp a good ten years...........maybe like Grandma Kio. But, God has a most perfect plan, which most of the time none of us understands. I do believe part of his soul must of been part of that house on Looker Mountain Trail........afterall he moved out only 3 weeks ago. But when you live in a house over 57 years, well.........

I can imagine Gram saying as he entered those heavenly gates: "Where have you been? I've looked for you forever and I'm just not myself when your away." 62 and a half years, wow!!!!

I will say this though, it's not really an end, it's a beginning. It's amazing for me to look and see what the love of two people created, through the thick and the thin, family was most important to them.

I always think of both of them as part of the greatest generation. People who were made of much tougher stuff than we are. Who's gonna fill their shoes, I wonder? Both of them were people I aspire to be like: generous, caring, loving.

Gramp taught me how to ride a bike. I remember Saturday mornings spent washing his 1988 red Lincoln Town car. He was so proud of owning that car. I remember some slight embarrassment when on a trip for some bread (for a pig roast) he wanted a better price from the manager. I remember summer mornings and both Gram and Gramp would put a full spread on the breakfast table.

I think it's no accident that I teach; Gramp............a man who valued education above most other things. But, I can say now, go rest high on that mountain. Your work here on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shouting.

Straight

Here's something no one has ever seen before. Me.........with VERY straight hair. I didn't even recongnize myself in the mirror. I don't think this is a hair style I'll wear again anytime soon, but it was fun to see people's reactions.

Dance Award

Dance is almost over. So this past Monday we had the last parent's night and Nor-nor got her trophy. I didn't really have high expectations considering the performance in December. But I was pleasantly surprised. Nor did such a good job. But I don't think we will be doing dance in the fall........probably soccer or tennis. We shall see.
She's not a huge fan of ballet..........and for some reason they don't do much with the tap shoes.

First Song

At the prom last weekend one of our friends stumped us. We just couldn't come up with the answer.
Q: What was your first dance as a married couple?
A: Ummmmmmmmmmmmm
That was Saturday night, laying in bed Sunday night we were bound and determined to figure out the answer. When asked we could not think of it but knew the last song we danced to before leaving the reception, we could remember what was played when the garter was taken off, what was played when we cut the cake, but finally we remembered.
Following are the lyrics to the Barbara Streisand/Bryan Adams duet.
Disclaimer: I am not really a Streisand fan but I LOVE this song.
Ohh yeah...mmmmm
I finally found someone, who knocks me off my feet,
I finally found the one, who makes me feel complete.
It started over coffee,
We started off as friends,
It's funny how from simple things,The best things begin.
This time its different, (nah nah nah nah)
It's all because of you, (nah nah nah nah)
It's better than its ever been,
Cause we can talk it through...
My favorite line,
Was can I call you sometime?
It's all you had to say, To take my breath away.
This is it,
Oh I finally found someone,
Someone to share my life,
I finally found the one,
To be with everynight
Cause whatever I do,
it's just got to be you
My life has just begun,
I finally found someone
Did I keep you waiting?
I didn't mind.
I apologize.
Baby that's fine.
I will wait forever just to know you were mine.
You know iI love your hair,
are you sure it looks right?
I love what you wear,
isnt it too tight?
You're exceptional,
I cant wait for the rest of my life...
Cause whatever i do,
its just got to be you
Oh my life has just begun...i finally found...someone.

Happy early Mother's Day!!! I LOVE getting all the handmade gifts from my children. Seedlings, poems, drawings, and handprints. They are sooooooo precious.
