Chugga, Chugga

Two posts in one weekend. I am on a roll.......After church this morning we decided that we didn't want to be stuck inside all day. It was much nicer weather today, but a tad bit windy. We decided to head to the train museum. We got to ride the train and check out all the cool trains in the round house. I have always been fascinated by the past. In fact, if I were not an English teacher I would probably teach history. (Coming soon will be this cool picture I am completely fascinated by that I found in my great grandmother's scrapbook). That has certainly been a project in and of itself. There are so many lessons there. T and I had been to see the trains several years ago before we ever had children. It was neat to take the kids there and see how much fun they were having. Nana joined us for the day. We all had a great time and of course ended our day with a visit to a great Mexican restaurant we all miss since we have moved from Sals. to Troutman. Now I'll have to sign off and enter my grades.... A much needed teacher workday tomorrow and I'd like to be ahead of the game.

Sidenote: Just a little advise, do not ever go to the movies on a Saturday night to see what is supposed to be a semi-scary movie. We got way more than we bargained for. Suffice it to say, that when we go out on a date, we want to get away from what we deal with everyday.

Week in Review

1. Monday night T had class. Big paper due this coming Monday so he has been working on that in his spare moments. And if you know what he does for a living you know there aren't many of those. So he stayed up last night until about 11:30 trying to get it finished. He's close.
2. Tuesday........some chilling time at home after work which was great.
3. Wednesday.......work some more and then life group. We are so thankful to have these people in our lives. We are currently working on the study "Snapshots of a Savior." It has been very enlightening. We will be doing the last installment in a couple of weeks. It's almost 1st Wednesday again which we can't even believe.
4. Thursday........ okay work again and then the launch of Cove Student Ministries at T's school. We are so excited about this. We have prayed a long time about this. Ever since the Cove announced they were opening a satellite in Statesville we knew there was something T's school could be used for. The Cove is transforming the gym. They have already done some painting, landscaping, etc.... There was an old classroom off the gym where they have set up Wii's and Playstations. It's pretty neat. The can be such a beacon for the Statesvegas community. I can't wait to see how God uses all this.
5. Friday.....work again..... Then our weekly trip to El Cerro Reyes, our fav. Mexican place. We would all have withdrawal if we didn't eat there at least once a week.
Today we got up and headed to Monkey Joe's so Tug could spend some time with one of his old friends from Trinity. If all goes as planned then hopefully they will be in the same kindergarten class next year. We have put in our transfer for schools so hopefully that all works out. T and I plan on having a date night this evening: Outback (which we have not been to in ages) and a movie. Much needed time together. We have considered actually building an ark, but maybe there will be a break in this rain soon. Have a great rest of the weekend!!!!!

IT'S DONE

The 2008-2009 yearbook is finished!!!! I know you are happy for me and ready for me to shut up about it already. But this is a huge accomplishment and a weight lifted off my shoulders. I am extremely happy and proud. My students really came through at the end. Now I just have to figure out how to sell 150 more books. If you have any neat ideas, send them my way........

The only damper to the day was that one of my yearbook students got arrested this morning. Yeah........you read that right, arrested. They put the cuffs on her right there in my classroom door. Apparently some stuff is hitting the fan after a very wild party that took place at a state trooper's house a few weeks ago. Really.........how brainless must these students be to have a party, let alone at a state trooper's house? Makes no sense to me. Yearbook applications are coming in quickly and a little afraid of letting a bunch of students down. But I can't have 35 students in yearbook. That would be crazy.......so I'll shut up about the yearbook now and will share some pictures of my favorite spreads when the book comes in around mid-May.

I am loving this for Nor to wear for the Easter festivities. I think this is too cute!!! My friend's MIL started making these and they are awesome. And I might add that she doesn't charge an arm and a leg like specialty shops and websites.

Rainy Day Fun

We knew it was going to rain pretty much all weekend. So what do you do for free entertainment??? Get a box and you're good to go. T had two filing cabinets delivered to his school so he brought the boxes home. Some crayons, a cut out window, and they have thier own
"houses." They have enjoyed this boxes for hours on end this weekend. I have to wonder when the novelty will wear off............

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring break in the G household. We all desperately need a break. But, then again, who doesn't need a break? At least we have this day to chill. So, off I go to check on my pot of taco soup in the crockpot, get clothes together for the week..........and maybe just maybe close my eyes for a 15 minute nap. Wait I almost forgot, nevermind the nap part. For some reason, despite my exhaustion, I haven't been able to take a good nap since those afternoons in college.

A BIG Happy Birthday goes out to our friend Caroline!!! She turned one today. Tug and Nor had a very good time at her party. There was a lion bounce house, a clown doing some face painting, cotton candy, a popcorn machine. It was great fun at the farm.

I am amazed that we live in a place where at the beginning of the week the low Monday night was 12 degrees and the weather here today reached a high of 79. What gorgeous weather today. We got our two fallen trees cleaned up so that's one job off the list. Can't believe we have to jump ahead one hour tonight. I love this time of year, but hate 'losing' an hour of sleep.

In Like a Lion

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would get snow in March in North Carolina. But it's here, about 5 inches of it. Yeah for snow days. The only downside is, the days we miss for snow come out of days for spring break. So hopefully we won't be out tomorrow. The best thing tomorrow would be a 2 hour delay, but with the amount of snow and freezing temps. I think we may be out tomorrow. We've had fun this morning. Hopefully we can talk the kids into going back out soon. Tug especially hates cold weather. A couple of trees came down, thankfully not on the house. Very glad we got rid of the pine trees that were really close to the house.
