New 'Do

You may not be able to tell from this picture, but Nor-Nor has a new hairdo. I am a little late in posting, but we got a haircut about two weeks ago. It's a bob, right to chin level and I love it. Everyone says it makes her look older. She's growing up too. She so wanted to go to kindergarten yesterday. She drummed up real tears for that in the morning. At least today when I picked them up they didn't slug one another. I guess that was how they wanted to show they missed each other yesterday.

KINDERGARTEN

Outside Tug's classroom.
Love this!!!
He wanted to give Mrs. T something this morning.
The day we have been talking about for weeks has come and gone. Tug did a fantastic job at school today. We are so proud of him. I was proud of myself: I did not cry this morning. Although when we were walking from the parking lot he looked up at me and said. "Mommy I want to hold your hand." This coming from a complete Daddy's boy. That almost got me. And the first thing he informed me of when I picked him up was that he stayed green all day. Mrs. T's behavioral plan. "Green means you've been good."

I may be a little premature in changing my blog page background, but I can't help it. I LOVE the fall and am ready for cooler weather. I have an apple tart scent burning right now. Bought Autumn Wreath (*Yankee Candle*) air freshner for the car. Love, love, love it. Can I bring out the fall decorations???? No..........okay I'll wait a few more weeks.

Things We've Learned This Week

1. Somehow, my classroom never really gets cleaned. And yet they go through the motions and unplug and move everything. Weird
2. I feel more confident about yearbook. I am working on a business ads. project now that should make my first 4 weeks of school go much smoother.
3. You can feel like you have been hit by a mac truck and not have the flu.
4. Tug should be fine in school which was surmised after going to open house on Thursday. I promise to post pictures next week.
5. It's nice to have lunch dates with your husband.
6. We have 15 more years of school drama where our own children are concerned.
7. I need 3 more teacher workdays.
8. Always give thanks for great friends who listen and sympathize.

Things We've Learned This Summer

Okay, I know summer isn't quite over until Labor Day, but it's over for me has teacher workdays begin tomorrow.
1. Doing summer school right after school got out wasn't very fun, especially when pay came a month later.
2. It amazes me how cold I think it is in Pennsylvania when I go back. Especially remembering growing up there and thinking it was hot. Pack two wardrobes when you go north.
3. Despite the length of any trip our children do not sleep in the car.
4. There is a Chick-fil-a right past the University of West Virginia. After that going north there is no more chicky.
5. A starfish can live with only 4 'legs.'
6. Tug is very much ready for kindergarten even though I am not.
7. The Boathouse in downtown Charleston closed. Bummer!!!
8. Charleston really is a great city and always nice to visit.
9. Going back to work after vacation is never a very fun prospect.
That's it for now. There might be a second installment.

To Blog or not to Blog: There is no Question

I think there are some people out there who are neglecting their blogpages. And I have wondered a few times if it's worth keeping it up, especially if very few people read it. But then I got to thinking, not that I am a pessimist, but this blog will always be here. Horribly enough, what if my house burned down one day with all my precious scrapbooks inside? I don't have my pictures on a CD in a fire safe box. Why? I don't have an answer for that question. So the more I have thought about it........the blog is staying. Even if only two people read it in a week. I've decided it's for more than that. It will always be here to record the great and sometimes not so great moments in our lives.
On a side note: most of you know that T has a facebook page which I read all the time but that's about it. The district has instituted a new social networking policy and therefore I will not be starting my own facebook page.

Again, Some Randomness

1. First August post of this year, can't believe it's already August. Where did the summer go? We have 15 days until we have to go back to school. Ugh!!!! I can't believe it!!! Not ready to go back and I know I shouldn't complain, but....
2. Went out on the lake yesterday despite the not-so-great weather. T drove a boat for the first time. Not too bad, really. Mom went on a Sea-Doo for the first time. I got that thing nearly to 50 mph a couple of times. Fun stuff.
3. I think I have the kids everything they need to start school. We shall see, well other than B's teacher's wish list. The actual individual list was nothing. I wonder what will be on this wishlist.
4. In the process of boating yesterday, pushed the boat off the 'island' we were 'docked' at, fell in the water (which I am sure looked hilarious) and now I am paying for it. My neck is killing me. Hopefully that will heal up in a couple of days.
5. T has Leadership Week this week. A lot of craziness.
6. Went to Wal-mart on Saturday with the family. Tug informs me that he loves apple sauce. I am thinking 'since when?' I bought one package of individuals, thinking there was no way. That was Saturday, Nor-nor is currently eating the last one. BTW: also bought a little watermelon the other day. Despite my husband's loathing of everything melon, I am happy to report that not only has Nor tore it up, but Tug has eaten some of it. too.
7. Even though I can't believe the summer has gone so quickly and I'm not ready to go to school, I am ready for the fall. Love the fall and cooler weather. I am ready for some cool weather meals.
I guess that's it for now.
