We headed to Savannah a few days after Christmas. We called this my birthday trip. We are so blessed to be able to take little mini trips like this. Our first night we ate dinner at one of the squares at a place called Anna's. It was really good. We did a little walking around and then headed back to the hotel. Every time we came in the lobby the kids wanted to look at the ginger bread houses.

On Thursday morning we took a carriage tour. This was our day to hit the streets. We did so much walking I could barely move the next day. It had a blast. The kids were stoked when they got to sit up front and do the directing.

This is the house the founder of girl scouts lived in. It was at one point girl scout headquarters.

This was the restaurant Julia Roberts caught Dennis Quaid having an affair in the movie "Something to Talk About."

Then we headed to lunch at the Pirate House Restaurant. Very cool and good food too! We had gotten a coupon when we were walking down on River Street so we headed this way.

After lunch I enjoyed a little chocolate treat from a River Street bakery.

Then we were able to hear some pirate stories.

After lunch we headed toward the cemetary and then St. John the Baptist Cathedral. One of the most beautiful churches I have ever been in. By the way, how do you explain holy water to a 5 and 7 year old??? On our walk we lost Tug's most prized coat (it was a warm day afterall). Not sure how T dropped it without me knowing since I was walking behind him the whole way. But whatever. We chocked it up to a loss and bought another coat a few streets over (thankfully on sale). Bizarrely enough, the next day, on our way back from Tybee Island, T caught something black out of the corner of his eye on a side street and wanted me to turn the car around. So I did of course. And there sitting on a bench was Tug's jacket, found more than 24 hours later. Weird, right???

This is the organ in the church.

This is the view from the Tybee Island light house. I didn't think the island was anything to write home about but the lighthouse was cool. And for me to have this picture, you should be thinking is awesome since I am TERRIFIED of heights. But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, or at least that is what I told myself. We climed the six flights of stairs to the top and got this spectacular view.

Of course we figured we couldn't go to Savannah and not have dinner at Lady and Sons. Gotta say, I am not sure what all the hype is about. Now don't get me wrong, it was good food. However, not really any better than anyplace else I have been. And T was sorely disappointed by the dessert offerings. In fact, I think I would have been mad if I had to wait in line to make a reservation. Thankfully the concierage did that for us. Again, good, but not that great.
