A Trip to Boone/Blowing Rock

Gracefully Turning 30

This is a picture from the cruise we took on New Year's Eve around Lake Norman. A very interesting cruise to say the least. There were no more than 70 on board, but there were certainly some crazy-acting folk..... Overall we had a good time.

I love an ice cream cake!!! This one was homemade and awesome!!!

Wow!!! My first post of the new year. Still can't believe it's 2009. My mom and sister did a fabulous job of making my 30th birthday special. Thanks mom and sis!!!! They put 30's everywhere!!!!
Update: Potty training day 9: We went cold turkey the day after Christmas. The whole time we were potty training Tug, everyone kept saying. "oh you'll get through this, just think girls are easier to potty train than boys." Well........that appears to be true. I don't know if it's being in school that has helped Nor, seeing Tug go to the restroom, or what. But she seems to have picked it up a lot quicker than he did. We shall see. It was soooooooooo hard with Tug and some regression too. Hoping for the best here. We are tired of buying diapers. I think we are about to go cold turkey on sippy cups too. My babies are growing up way too fast.

New Year's Eve

I cannot believe that 2008 is almost over. And I am about to be 30!!!! I have joked about turning 30 and having a mid-life crisis, but really I am okay with this. I don't feel 30 whatever that means. A friend just told me that just because we are about to be 30 doesn't mean we aren't hip anymore. Thanks RCM!!! It has been no secret that we have had quite the fall in this house. So many things going on. T went back to school to work on his Ph.D, I started working at a new school, doing the yearbook, childcare issues at the beginning of the school year, medical 'issues' that are still not resolved, and a plethra of other things. All in all this has been a great year, despite the trials and tribulations. We are so blessed. We have great jobs, a great house, two healthy, beautiful children. Wow!!! It's amazing.

We are off to Monkey Joe's this morning!!! Tug and Nor have been asking forever but I always want to go on Wednesday because it's half price. Tonight we are going on the Catawba Queen. They do a cruise around Lake Norman for New Year's so I am very excited. I hope each of you has a happy and healthy new year. Happy 2009!!!!

The Gingerbread Challenge

I thought it would be fun to attempt a gingerbread house this year. We had fun, but it was a challenge. Notice the pill bottles holding up the roof in the top picture. First we made the icing too thin and then it was too thick. But the kids had a good time putting the treats all over the house.
As a little side note: we are currently in the midst of day two of potty training Nor-Nor. Let me just say, I thought that with my stubborn, hard to train first born, that things might go a little smoother the second time around. Boy was I wrong or what!!!!! We have had only two successes amidst a sea of failures, but there is no turning back now. Please pray that we get through this as smoothly as possible.

Merry Christmas 2008

Tug and Nor must have been very good this year. Santa made stops at both our house and Nana's house. The reaction to Tug getting drums was priceless. Thanks Cici!!! What fun we have had this holiday season.
